Like most problems in this world, the simples solution is the best.

My idea is that in order to kill your mirror image, you just go without any skills in your bar, once the fight starts, press quicly C + SPACE BAR so you hit the mirror right away, if you hit the first shot then you're a few dmg in advantage so theoretically, since both have the same chance to deal critical dmg and since both are face to face in a plain terrain you're gonna pwn your mirror, just like that.

Or, if you're a part Necro, like myself was the two times, equip pure sacrifice skills. If you don't have enough to fill the bar, leave blanks.

DONT put on bow or axe skills, for the mirrio use both these weapons.

When I went in like this, he used them all and within the first few seconds was down to 1/4 health, and I just finsihed him off. Got bonus too

I had an easy time kickin my mirrors buttocks. He shot me with an arrow I ran up and threw every skill at him while using healing breeze. I killed him in like 10 secs.

What was the bonus though?

there are allready so many threads like this. was this necessary?
and he advise is off key, since the doppelganger hits harder then you.

real advise:

1) before triggering hte match, you can cast enchantments on yourself so you will start the battle better prepared.

ranger:
pack some nature rituals that are pointless. the 5sec casting time is pure timeprofit for you when he uses it. and he will.

monk:
i used healing breeze and retribution and just wanded him. that's all to it.

When oh when are we going to see the end of idiotic fads like spelling "the" as "teh" and using nonwords like "pwn"? Ranks right up there with wearing your pants down around your knees. General literacy is in enough peril without adding to it.

And as someone pointed out, there is no shortage of threads on this very subject. Why add an obviously untested tactic to the heap?

Warriors have it easy. Empty your skill bar and put just frenzy on it. Then attack with a melee weapon immediately. Your opponent literaly kills himself the moment HE actives it. YOU don't use it at all.

As for "teh," hate so say it but I still frequently switch letters when typing, especially THE. I don't always go back adn correct (<- prime example) my spelling as the message is clear enough. I'm not wound up so tight as to nitpick minor typos. What bothers me are words like "rediculous" and "definately" but not enough to make me make a point about them.

Alright... constant, deliberate use of them can be annoying.

No offense but this has to be silliest solution to the Doppleganger quest I've seen.

As others have said, the Doppleganger is capable of dealing far more damage than you can, especially against skill intensive killers such as casters and healers.

A warrior may be able to trade blows with no problem (haven't tested one) but for the other classes, you'd have to get really freakin lucky to out mellee or out shoot your doppleganger.

BONUS = kill mirror image in 50 seconds or less ...

easily attainable ...

u need skills ... having nothing in your bar will get you wiped

monk = smite (19 seconds with mine 1st time, 2nd time 13 seconds)

necro = sacrifice

ranger = nature rituals (28 seconds)

elementalist = well nuke em faster, start with meteor (guildie told me 13 seconds he was done, even before I set my skills and enter *we were racing to see who could do it fastest*)

warrior I heard can just pound him --- last profession for me to try

mesmer (never tried so cant comment)

I've ascended with a w/mo20 and a w/r20. With the sword w/r20 I didn't even bother messing with the skills bar. I went into it as-is and still managed to out-damage the doppleganger. The fight lasted about 10 seconds or less.

With the hammer w/mo20 I decided to try a little experiment. I put frenzy and sprint on my skill bar (don't ask about sprint, I just did it for the heck of it) and went in after taking out a bunch of mastery and healing skills. I beat my mirror in exactly 16 seconds and knew that I had it won when I saw him use frenzy for the first Time and then nothing else the rest of the fight.

With my W/Mo I did it in 8 seconds, on my second try :P I realized it was using all my skills so I took everything off except Frenzy, Seeking Blade, and Final Thrust. The Doppleganger imediatly used frenzy and seeking blade, I got to use Seeking blade and final thrust, and it was over!

I defeated "Mirror Self" on the first try with all my normal skills intact lol. I guess I was hitting him a lot harder than he was. :P

Please don't comment on how easy the mirror is if you are a warrior. Your solution does not work for all classes.

If you are an elementalist, DON'T use fire, he will hit you harder and faster, and will be knocked down better.

Use Obsidian Flame, maxed earth. You can respec (you get 50k exp) afterwards so it's no biggie.

I've done this twice and working on the third.

First was with a wamo. I kept all the attribute from axes but added Frenzy and Heal Sig and removed all heal spells. He took double damage then used a heal sig and dropped in about 15 seconds. I was sort of disappointed to be honest.

Second was with my Ranger/Mesmer. This was tricky. For those who don't know the mirror has max attribute in all lines. So no matter what you do he's always at an advantage. To do this I equiped nature rituals that were completely useless as well as Troll Unguent, Chaos Storm, Empathy and Power Spike. Nothing in Expertise, just maxed Domination and Wilderness. Basically he'd start off with his rituals which I'd take the time to Troll Unguent myself and Empathy him. He'd then pull off either Empathy or Chaos Storm. I interupted the Empathy and let the Storm through since you can just move out. Then when he'd pull off his rituals again I'd Chaos Storm him. It was sort of hard and took a few tries but it was still fun.

Third is with an E/N but I haven't gotten there yet. Lots of my guildies did this and I hear it's quite simple. Everything fire AoE (Meteor Shower and Fire Storm). He'll just take it while you can move out. Never get close though since he has an axe for close range.
